Because I'm crazy...

A while back I was going through some of E's old clothes that I had set aside and I was trying to think of something I could do with them. He has had so many clothes, which will come in handy if we have another little one some day, but there are some things that just remind me of him and his baby years. So I decided to try and make a quilt using his old baby clothes as the center of each square. The kicker...I don't have a sewing machine, so I ended up doing the whole thing by hand. 90 hours later and...

Now, I have never made a quilt before. And I am not much of a sewer. But I am so proud of myself that this turned out. E loves to look at it. Every square has a story...first day of school last year, first haircut, what he wore home from the hospital, first trip to Europe, first Easter, first pair of jeans...etc. I had a hard time getting good pictures because it is pretty big. I think it looks better in person!

Back to School

Dear E,

Summer is quickly coming to an end. We have had so much fun filling our days with adventures, but all good things must come to an end. You have been asking to go back to school for the past two weeks. I just love how much you are into school. I can't believe that you will be going 3 mornings a week this year. Mommy is going to miss you.

I have been very busy looking for a school to send you to for the 2009/2010 school year. We absolutely love the school you are in now, but unfortunately, once you turn 3, tuition goes up to $12,000 a year. Crazy. We are visiting a few montessori schools to see if we fall in love with any of those, but most logically you are going to end up in a Catholic school. Your Daddy and I are all for the public schools, but because we live in the city, that isn't an option for us. There are no public schools in our district that we feel good about.

You are such a smart little guy. We spend our days having full on conversations. You have started reading. You can count to 30. And you are just all around clever. The other day you were taking your nap, and I decided to lay down for some cuddles. You woke up and decided you didn't want to go back to bed, but Mommy was exhausted. I told you that you could go practice your vocabulary on your computer or look at books. You smiled and said..."MMM, how about I do neither?" Than you said "I think Mommy needs some kisses."

On the sleep front, you are getting up earlier which I am not thrilled about, but you are a great sleeper. You have been in your twin bed since you were 22 months old, and you love it. The transition was seamless. You stay in bed all night, and you look forward to nap time.

You are constantly asking to go places, your favorites being to the Zoo to ride the train and to the Art Museum. You always ask to go see the paintings, and when you are home you are always wanting to paint. My little artist.

Every day I love you more and more. You are growing up so fast and I cherish all the moments we have together. Can you promise me something? When you are a teenager, will you still be my best friend?

I love you.
Mommy

Proud Mamma

It has been a long time since I have posted, but things have been crazy around here. I will update what has been going on with us later. But here are a few pictures of my not-so-little man. He came across Daddy's 1969 Gold top, and it was love at first sight. Similar to what happened 14 years ago when I saw his Daddy playing that guitar...
