Pictures

I took E to the hospital today to see my Dad. Here are a few pictures...

Some Very Bad News...

I wasn't sure if I was going to post anything about this, because every time I even think about it, I get sick to my stomach and start crying. But I am using this blog as a way to communicate with a lot of family and friends, and I wanted to make sure and pass the info along.

Yesterday my Dad was admitted into the hospital and they found a stage 4 brain tumor that is inoperable. It has intertwined itself throughout his brain and made its way into his spinal column. They are giving him a maximum of 6 months to live. He is only 58.

I can't even begin to explain what I am feeling right now. The mortality of our parents is not something I think anyone wants to accept. It all still seems very surreal to me.

I might write more about this later. I'm not sure. But if everyone could keep my Dad in their thoughts and prayers, I would appreciate it.

Monkey on my back...

Well, really it's on E's. I have a problem...Small Paul. Seriously, I am going to have to go into rehab for spending way to much money on my 2 year olds clothes. But it's so cute, I can't help myself! He has been asking for a belt for a while now, so when I found this one it was perfect. And of course he needed the shirt too!

Happy 4th of July!

E was never into the whole pacifier thing when he was a baby. But I came across this when cleaning the other day, and I thought it was fitting for the holiday...

Hair

I finally did it. I had all of E's hair cut off. It has been a bit of a marital issue in our house. M was very much opposed to me cutting his hair. I LOVE his long hair. But I couldn't do it to him anymore. We spend a lot of time outside and it is so hot here, that my poor little man was drenched in sweat the minute he stepped outside. I did promise to grow it back out for the fall. I mean, seriously, this kid has had a dozen haircuts in the past year. It will be long again before he starts school in September. But for now...my handsome guy...

Oh, and yes, he got some new shoes! He wants to wear them with everything...

Intro to the Birds and the Bees

Back when E was 15 months old, he pointed down while I was changing his diaper and said..."Mommy, what's that?" I was never a fan of making up cute little names for body parts, so I told him it was his penis.

Having only one bathroom in our house has made for some interesting conversation. I am going to have to say that our conversation the other night had to take the cake.

E was taking a bath, and I really had to pee. I went into the bathroom, and here is what followed.

E: Mommy, you need to stand up to put your pee pee in the potty.

Me: No buddy, Mama sits down to tinkle.

E: NO Mommy...STAND UP!

Me: Monk, Mommy sits down because I don't have a penis.

E: But I've got a penis right here.

Me: Yes, you have a penis but Mommy doesn't.

E: But Daddy has a penis too!

Me: Yes, you and Daddy both have a penis, but Mommy has a vagina.

E: E and Daddy have penises, but Mommy has a Ba-gina.

Me: And that's why I sit to pee.

Fast forward to today. I am talking to my Mom on the phone (E calls her Mi-Mi,) and I hand him the phone to say hi.

E: Hi Mimi. My Mommy has a Ba-gina, but Daddy and I have penises.

What do you say to that? He's right. Ah...the conversations you have with your perceptive 2 year old.

And here are some new pictures...
